In a press conference, Nico Larcamon hinted that Jardine’s comments about the refereeing would have determined the actions of the refereeing team in the second leg.
“When you get eliminated, it’s hard to leave with a positive feeling, angry about not having the great first half that is essential to take advantage of in this type of match. I prefer not to talk about the referee and I hope the technicians don’t talk. I don’t think Andre’s statements before the match were appropriate.I told you, it doesn’t add up to (the judges’) shortlist and it ends up being the action that determines the course… I’d rather not talk, but I didn’t like the statements, they seemed inappropriate to me. “With the team, with the organization that they have, the game is put into other things,” Larcamone said.
Despite a 4-2 elimination at global level, Larcamon salvaged the silver lining that their calendar year is still coming to an end, with the Club World Cup ahead of them.
“It’s hard to find the positive side of a performance with just a few minutes to go, but it shows us exactly what we can do in a few days (in the Club World Cup).” Today we suffered important losses, and yet the team not only stood up, but deserved to achieve that advantage. As a positive aspect, let us take into account that the year for us is not over, and we have the most beautiful things ahead of us.“For long periods of the game, we were the ones setting the tempo, and that is an important aspect of everything that comes at us, without a doubt.”
