Launching of the Fourth International Conference and Exhibition of Cuban Industry, Cubaindustria 2024

In order to encourage scientific and technical exchange, apply development-based innovation and strengthen strategic industrial and productive alliances, the 4th International Conference and Exhibition of Cuban Industry Cubaindustria 2024 was inaugurated on Monday at the Capital’s Congress Palace.

In front of the leader of the revolution, Ramiro Valdés Menéndez, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic, Eloy Álvarez Martínez, President of Industries, confirmed in his opening speech that over the course of five days, more than a thousand people would gather at that headquarters and at the BAEXPO fairgrounds. 600 participants, including 202 foreigners from 25 countries.

Al-Malik pointed out that Cuba is receiving them in a complex context characterized by the effects resulting from the intensification of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States government.

He said that the measures identified by the country’s top leadership to correct distortions and revitalize the economy represent a guide for the national industry in terms of transforming results in sector management.

Álvarez Martínez commented that Cubaindustria 2024 is an event of great importance for this branch, because it aims to achieve greater integration, integration and international integration in the pursuit of industrial development in the largest island of the Antilles.

The minister explained that the event will include activities in light industry, chemistry, metalworking, steel, recycling, electronics, automation, and packaging.

The scientific conference, which begins on Monday, highlighted the celebration of dozens of conferences with the participation of more than 1,100 delegates, the presentation of about 276 research papers, and 73 major conferences.

He pointed out that it will be the precise framework for exchange between technicians, teachers, students and experts from 23 research centers, including 10 national universities.

Alvarez Martinez stressed that the application of science, technology and innovation contributes to solving the problems of the economy and industry in particular.

Regarding the exhibition, which will open on June 18, he indicated that more than 500 exhibitors will participate, including 146 foreigners from 11 countries.

At Babexpo, the potential of Cuban industry will be demonstrated through financially sustainable products and services, to meet the needs of the economy and exports, said the owner.

There will be representation of business groups from light industry, metalworking, steel, chemicals, recycling and the Mariel Special Development Zone.

The Minister of Industry pointed to the participation of representatives of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization and the World Packaging Organization, which have strong relations with the archipelago.

Within Cubaindustria there will also be representation of the Chinese business community.

This event makes us move from idea to action to develop an agenda that includes tasks and common points for industrial development,” said José Félix Rivas Alvarado, Sectoral Vice President of the Economy and Minister of People’s Energy for Industries and National Production of Venezuela.

He called for import substitution to create values, industrialization chains, and economic independence.

The opening of Cubaindustria 2024 was attended by Minister of Construction Rene Mesa Villafaña and First Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Usmakov Vasiliy Sergeevich.
