Maison Diez celebrates the beauty of light in architecture with a Baroque-inspired retreat
Like every year, yesterday, November 8th Ten Company The project presented its fifth edition to Mexican and international audiences. Maison Diez Company, A dedicated lighting design space where designers, creatives, architects, interior designers, business partners, lighting experts and global brand representatives come together to celebrate light. Following the success of its previous editions, held annually since 2018, Maison Diez presents the new shows in a large house in the San Miguel Chapultepec neighborhood.
This is the second time this has happened Maison Diez Company In this headquarters, which was chosen for its history, architectural diversity and cultural richness by its director, Rodrigo Fernandez. The ship features a historic facade of that period, with wooden windows and a central courtyard. Since its first edition in 2018, Maison Diez has positioned itself as an annual phenomenon, an event eagerly awaited by design enthusiasts, lighting enthusiasts and creativity enthusiasts. Every year, visitors from all over the world gather to immerse themselves in an unparalleled optical experience.
Every year I set a different challenge, this year the challenge was to use the same envelope and turn it inward. It was a technical challenge without a doubt. There were things we thought would be easy that weren’t, like building some buildings and tearing down others. I devoted myself to other things and it was very interesting to be involved in a space redesign project. The biggest thing we learned was accuracy, we worked for a limited time due to my client having a very high level of demand. This is the biggest challenge. Installing all this from a height of ten meters was a technical challenge, but I think this also shows us what we can do. Our team has this ability. That was the greatest learning for me, it became a very special space.
– Rodrigo Fernandez
Same location, but with a new scenario, breaking the paradigms. It is a challenge to survive and, at the same time, create a never-before-seen space that breaks away from previous locations, challenging the audience to wonder, be surprised and be moved by a spiritual emotion. The Sanctuary of Light will be a living testimony that transformation is possible, even in the most sacred of places.
For this edition, Diez has entered into an alliance with the Spanish company Santa & Cole to use images from the archive of art objects on display at the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum, as part of the Neoseries selection from the Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection. In this way, Diez presents exclusively to Maison Diez images of famous paintings by artists of the caliber of Velázquez, Caravaggio, Rubens, Swertz, Cranach and Christos, which will be exhibited for the first time in Mexico. They are Baroque masterpieces where light is the spirit that gives life and meaning to each painting. Through the magic of light, Baroque artists transport us into a world of emotions and spirituality.
The color chosen for the venue was made possible thanks to the participation of Comex which was once again present at the 2023 edition of Maison Diez. ColorLife by Comex has presented its new color trends for 2024 as well as the long-awaited Color of the Year, implemented in some spaces of this impressive location. The color is called Ardiente and was chosen during the Comex color forecast earlier this year.
