NEW YORK (EFE) – Fatherhood has changed the life of Colombian singer Maluma, who says that “everything has changed” since the birth of his first daughter Paris last March, and that he “loves” being a father, as he indicated in an interview published this Tuesday.
“Now, I wake up every day with the desire to conquer the world. I know I have to do a really good job for it,” the star told Allure, which accompanied the interview with several photos of the singer on a beach in the Turks and Caicos Islands showing off her tattooed body.
Maluma wants to be a role model.
The proud father says he now has to be a “role model” for his daughter.
“I go to bed every night at 9 and wake up at 5:30 to go to the gym because I want to be healthy. I want to live forever for my children. I want to make them proud of me,” said the Colombian, who has millions of followers on his networks.
He has 64 million followers on his Instagram page, 66% of whom are women between the ages of 18 and 44, while on TikTok it is 74%, according to the magazine.
Maluma, who has topped the Billboard Latin charts with 24 songs and has three top-three Latin albums, announced in March on Instagram the birth of his daughter with girlfriend Susana Gomez, whom he has been dating since 2020.
But he acknowledges that he still has a “bad boy” image that he doesn’t want to get rid of: “It’s no secret that my fans love when I play the ‘dirty boy’. I love it and I enjoy it. I need that spark in my life,” he said frankly.
In the middle of the round
The Colombian, who is in the middle of a tour, spoke to the magazine from the Turks and Caicos Islands where he bought a property in 2021, which has become his refuge and where he travels in his black Gulfstream G450 jet, highlighting Allure.
“This is where I came to disappear. Here, I am simply Juan Luis, who buys avocados at the local market, always wearing sandals and his friends are islanders,” said Juan Luis Londoño Arias, who left football in his teens – he was training to become a professional – to devote himself to music after seeing many reggaeton stars.
Juan Luis then asked his aunt Yudi to pay for a recording session in the studio as a birthday present, after which he needed to find a name to start his music career.
This is how Maluma was born, a combination of the names of his mother Marley, his father Luis, and his sister Manuela, which he tattooed on his left leg, in honor of his family.
In addition to his passion for music, Maluma devotes time to his Art of Dreams foundation, which provides opportunities for poor youth in Colombia to learn to dance, cook, sing and compose, tools that, according to the artist, can change the history of young people.
