At the age of 16, Manuel Turizo’s remarkable rise to stardom began with his debut single “Una Lady Como Tú”, which peaked at number 32 on the chart. Hot latin songs. Since his debut, the rising artist has traveled extensively from Colombia to Florida to collaborate with artists and expand his fan base. In partnership with Delta Air Lines and LATAM Airlines, Billboard caught up with Torrizo in Miami, the city he now calls home.

Hailing from Montería, Colombia, Manuel Turizo’s career has far exceeded his initial expectations, marking a breakout year for this rising star. With global hits like “El Merengue” and “La Bachata,” Turizo has catapulted into the spotlight, facilitating successful collaborations with popular artists like Shakira and Marshmello.

Immersed in music since he was frolicking in his mother’s womb, Torizo’s musical journey developed naturally, under the guidance of his father and brother, who served as his mentors throughout his life.

Looking back, Turizo credits his travels with broadening his horizons and providing him with valuable insight into others’ creative processes.

Now 23 years old, the urban singer proudly describes Miami as the epicenter of Latin music, where different Latin cultures converge. What started as a short visit to Miami four years ago quickly turned into a permanent residence.

Through mainstays like La Industria Bakery & Cafe, owned by his friend and colleague Nicky Jam, Turizo can find many of the delicious Colombian dishes he craves from home.

“I initially planned to stay only six months and then return home [a Colombia]”, he reflects.

“How long have I been here?” asks his manager.

“Four years” is the answer.

“Four years. And I’m here to stay,” Torrezo declared with unwavering commitment.
