FICER is a government policy that seeks among its objectives the promotion and dissemination of regional cinema and Entre Ríos in particular. Its various releases generated a growing interest in viewers, while it became a meeting and growth place for filmmakers with a significant investment by the government of Entre Ríos, which this year amounted to $5,550,000 in prizes.
Under the festival’s competitive sections, the jury will select an Argentine feature film – which may be fiction, animation or documentary – which will receive $500,000.
For his part, a short film from Entre Ríos – which may be fiction, animation or documentary – appointed by the department’s jury will receive $350,000.
To these cash prizes awarded by the provincial government are added the prizes to be delivered in the framework of the FICER competitions for the regional market, which are in excess of four million pesos.
There will also be parallel awards as in the case of CINE.AR, which presents recognition for the best short film from Entre Ríos, and an ARAER (Association of Audiovisual Filmmakers of Entre Ríos) award for the same section.
As in each of the previous editions, the main prize for FICER is the Ojo Pez figurine. This distinction is chosen by the public through a voting system at the end of each examination. The result of the winning film in each section will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on the last day of the festival, on Saturday 26 November.
With this special award, each person can have an approach and appreciation for cinematic work from their own cultural world without mediation of any kind. In this way, each spectator is configured as an active part of FICER.
On October 17, the deadline for submission of Argentine feature films and short films from Entre Ríos under the competitive sections of the festival closed.
Artistic direction, directed by Eduardo Crespo, with programming team, composed of Florencia Corrie (Chajari), Pablo Pleasure (Parana) and Julio Gomez (Parana); It received 65 proposals for Argentine films. The films come from provinces such as Santa Fe, Cordoba, Entre Ríos, Corrientes, Rio Negro and Buenos Aires.
Similarly, at the conclusion of the call, 25 short films were received from Entre Ríos from Chajarí, Paraná, San José, Nogoyá, Villaguay, Federal, Concepción del Uruguay and Concordia.
From this stream, six films will be definitively programmed for the Argentine Film Department’s competition; While twelve productions will be included in the network to form the Entrerrianos Short Films division, also in the competition.
From the organization of FICER IV, they announced that the composition of the juries will be announced in the coming days. There will be two bodies: three references to determine the feature film award; and three more for the Entrerrianos Short Films section. At the same time, the audiovisual market will have its own juries to award prizes to competing projects.
