Moroccans are protesting against their country’s relations with Israel

The demonstrators, who organized to show support for the Palestinians, gathered near the parliament seat in a series of similar cuts in other cities in this Maghreb country.

A statement issued by the Moroccan Front in Support of Palestine and Against Normalization (Fmapcn), issued last Saturday and sent to the press, stated that these protests are the result of the renewal of relations.

The text adds that we express our rejection of any form of normalization (of relations with Tel Aviv) and reaffirm our unconditional support for the Palestinian cause.

This sit-in (…) is to prove for the thousandth time that we are against the normalization of relations between Morocco and the Zionist state and that crimes against the Palestinians continue, Deputy and Secretary General of the Unified Socialist Party, Nabila Munib, told the press.

Last year alone, the Israeli occupation forces and Zionist farmers stationed in the West Bank killed nearly 300 Palestinian civilians, according to statistics from sources on the ground.

The demonstration followed the Israeli army’s incursion into the Jenin Palestinian refugee camp, which resulted in the death of 10 unarmed civilians, and attacks against Israelis planted in East Jerusalem and the West Bank occupied by Tel Aviv 55 years ago.

The tension in East Jerusalem, Jerusalem for the Arabs, is in a flashpoint due to the violations of the Israeli nationals, with the support of the police and their country’s army, of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, one of the three holiest sites of Islam, the targets of attempts to destroy it on several occasions.

On December 10, Israel and the Kingdom of Morocco announced the resumption of diplomatic relations and, almost in parallel, the conclusion of agreements in the commercial and military fields.
