São José Agro Director Nello Morlotti noted that various products outside the traditional Brazilian production chain are making their way to the Russian market, such as pico and sesame beans.

“Russia has countless consumers and a very high level of demand, because at the end of the day, the Russians manufacture their basic products a lot, so this makes a lot of sense for Brazilian agriculture,” Morlotti said.

In addition, he stressed that Russian fertilizers are very important for Brazilian agriculture, so the two countries “have a very close relationship” in this area.

In the case of Ecuador, bananas are one of the most valuable fruits in international trade, which is why all brands with a strong market position are exhibited every year at the WorldFood exhibition in Moscow.

According to data from the Banana Marketing and Export Association of Ecuador (Acorbanec), of the 162.83 million boxes exported from January to May 2023, 30.93 percent were destined for the European Union as the main market, while 22.84 percent were traded with Russia.

However, if banana exports are analyzed by country, Russia is the country to which the largest amount is directed, which is higher than the United States.
