Oceanic team players, like other national teams and teams, will change their uniforms to give players peace of mind during menstruation. The brand that wears them has already presented the new kit, which they will debut in this Saturday’s friendly against Iceland.
These days, England players make sure to change uniforms for their comfort during periods. Apart from the fact that there are already teams from England who pioneered this change, now one of the hosts of the Women’s World Cup has joined.
New Zealand, which uses an all-white kit, will introduce a new uniform this Saturday that changes the color of the trousers, an initiative hailed by players as it removes “menstrual anxiety”. This is the first time the Ferns have worn blue pants in their first uniform (having a white jersey).
“The blue is an amazing change and even better, it’s great not to have white shorts for women with any kind of period anxiety. It’s something that not only footballers but female athletes have to deal with all the time.” Forward Hannah Wilkinson pointed out in a statement from the Maritime Country’s Football Association last Monday.
The footballer, who has worn the national team’s jersey in more than 100 matches, promised that the color change would help players focus more on the performance of the game and “a sign of recognition and appreciation for women’s health”. Annalee Longo posted photos of the new outfit and wrote, “Proud to be a part of this movement.”
The team will debut the new uniform this Saturday in a friendly against Iceland and the alternate locker room will keep its black color more common to New Zealand teams in other sports. In addition to the color, Nike, the sponsoring brand of the New Zealand team and other women’s teams such as the USA and England (which also switched to white), will add waterproof material to the shorts to help soccer players. Feel more secure during menstruation.
