New Zealand announced on Friday that it would suspend air travel with Australia for at least eight weeks from tonight as a result of the Govt-19 explosion in the neighboring country.
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinta Artern has argued that there are “various eruptions in Australia and, at different stages, three states have been forced to close”.
The travel bubble, which allowed travel between the two countries without isolation, went into effect in April, although officials in both countries have ruled out the possibility of suspending it completely or partially in the event of new eruptions.
Artern noted that New Zealanders and permanent residents will be allowed to return to the country for a week, but the latest negative test result for those who went to Covid-19 and New South Wales should be presented. Australia, to be isolated for two weeks.
More than half of Australia’s more than 25 million people, including those living in Sydney and Melbourne, are under strict restrictions on moving out in the wake of an eruption related to the Delta variation.
Despite the prescribed measures, different regional health officials announced this Friday 136 local infections and one death in New South Wales, limited to July 30, and isolated 14 local infections in Victoria until the 27th.
In addition to these two regions, South Australian authorities who announced a new epidemic today have taken similar measures until next Tuesday.
Australia, which implements a strict and rapid prevention policy when it detects an outbreak of the virus, has amassed more than 32,500 cases and 916 deaths since the outbreak.
