MANAGUA, May 19 (Prensa Latina) The governments of Nicaragua and Belarus today called for the strengthening of bilateral relations and chose a good and close relationship, a press release said.
During a meeting in Minsk, the capital of Belarus, between President Alexander Lukashenko and a delegation from the executive branch of Nicaragua, the ruler of the European country expressed his admiration for his political activity with Sandinista President Daniel Ortega, whom they love and respect.
According to the published information, Lukashenko stressed the need to establish mutual relations in such a way as to establish a legal framework for their future economic relations.
“It is a matter of time. I believe that if we do this work, we will start deep economic relations between our two countries. We are ready for this.”
For their part, representatives of the Sandinista government reiterated the existing strategic alliance between Managua and Minsk. As well as full readiness to move forward in strengthening economic and trade cooperation.
During the day, the two countries signed the General Agreement on Granting Export Credits, which is the basic agreement between the Development Bank of Belarus and the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit of Nicaragua.
Likewise, they signed a cooperation agreement in the field of education, and talked about working on trade and economic cooperation projects, promotion and mutual protection of investments, in addition to an agreement to cancel visa requirements.
In addition, they reported that the two countries intend to continue working on industrial cooperation projects, agriculture, passenger car supply, road construction and agricultural machinery.
The Nicaraguan delegation that traveled to Belarus was headed by Foreign Minister Denis Moncada and also consisted of Finance and Public Credit Minister Ivan Acosta, Nicaraguan Ambassador Alba Torres, and Presidential Adviser Laureano Ortega.
