Managua, October 11, 2022 (PAHO/WHO). The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) supports the efforts of the Ministry of Health (MINSA) in digital transformation. The Nicaraguan health sector authorities have prioritized the development and implementation of computer tools as a hub that allows for increased coverage and access to health with equity, quality, efficiency and effectiveness.

Computer platforms for self-assessment of the quality of care in care centers have also been developed and implemented. All this is accompanied by the training of health workers, in various fields of knowledge, through the Virtual Campus of Public Health at PAHO Nicaragua Node.

To implement these digital developments, technological equipment that will be donated to the Ministry of Health for use by family and community health teams has been acquired from approximately 272 sectors belonging to the comprehensive local health care systems of Matagalpa, Buaco, Chontales and Carazo.

During the donation of 600 pills, the Minister of Health – Dr. Martha Reyes and PAHO/WHO Representative in Nicaragua – Eng Anna Treasure attended.
