At 00:18 (local time) this Monday, October 31, Brazil’s Supreme Electoral Court confirmed on its website the one hundred percent closure of the counting of the 472,075 open polling stations in the country for the second round of elections in which the presidency was determined.
The president-elect, leader of the Workers’ Party, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, received 50.90% of the vote (60345999), with a 1.80-point advantage (+2139645 votes) over his far-right opponent Jair Bolsonaro.
Bolsonaro, who as of Sunday was running for president, finished with 49.10% of the vote (58,206,354).
The website of the Supreme Electoral Court reported that the attendance rate was 79.41% (124,252,796) of the voters and 20.59% (32,200,558) abstained.
118,552,353 valid votes (95.41%), 3,930.765 invalid votes (3.16%) and 1,769,678 blank votes (1.43%) were counted.
