I would like everyone to gather in front of hospitals and clinics, in the public square, to discuss what health reform should be like, and what their main desire is, as Petro put it before calling for a collective dialogue on this purpose.
The ruler affirmed that this desire will undoubtedly be reflected in the bill being prepared by the authorities in this regard. The Colombian government is preparing a health reform with the goal that this basic service is not a commodity and reaches the entire population.
The initiative undoubtedly sparks controversy in the nation due to the various sectors of the far right and private companies profiting from the health problems.
In this scenario, the ruler called on the Colombian people to dialogue in the streets, to express their views, to support or reject this reform proposal and others made by his government in order to comply with the promised change in favor of the excluded.
Petro pointed out recently that the reforms proposed by the government had been discussed by social movements for years on the streets.
The Head of State stressed that the proposals for changes to be submitted to Congress in February seek to transform the country and achieve social justice, which are the social struggles accumulated in Colombia.
He stressed that he has no doubt that they will have opponents in those who do not want these transformations, but the public arena is also a place for discussion.
