Madrid, August 14 (Portaltic/EP) –
Google Google has announced that its new Pixel 9 smartphone family will include a feature that aims to facilitate satellite communication with emergency services, to share location even if there is no signal on the device.
This is one of the new features of these mobile phones, which also offer other options powered by artificial intelligence (AI), such as Gemini Live or Pixel Time.
One of the most notable developments is the SOS service via satellite, which can connect users of these devices to emergency services via satellite, in addition to sharing their locations. Even if they don’t have a signal.
This feature, currently only available in the US excluding Hawaii and Alaska, can only be found on terminals of the new Pixel 9 family, including the foldable Pixel 9 Pro Fold model.
In this sense, the technology company confirmed that this feature will be available in the United States at no additional cost during the first two years, according to a press release sent to Europa Press.
Additionally, it will be activated once all APIs and necessary software are updated and the service is registered on the satellite network, the company explained in Your website.
Once activated, users will receive a notification and will also be able to check its status and availability in the Settings section of their Pixel device. After that, you need to access the “Security & Emergency” section and tap on the Satellite SOS button.
