The Duke of Sussex, who is in Dusseldorf (western Germany) for the opening of the Invictus Games, a competition for wounded soldiers, confronted Pistorius and two other athletes on a program broadcast on Saturday evening on the ZDF network.
Enrique did not pay any of his six attempts, while Pistorius, the former Minister of Sports in the German state of Lower Saxony (north), twice hit the screen that served as a goal in the group.
Although he promised to wear a Germany shirt in case of a loss, the duke eventually chose the Mainz sash when he couldn’t find any for the national team.
The program came after Germany’s resounding 4-1 defeat against Japan.
Enrique joked that he could “manage the national team” to the minister, to which he replied that he already had “enough problems”.
Pistorius, who was appointed at the beginning of the year, has to deal with several hot-button issues, such as the military aid Berlin sent to Ukraine and a project to strengthen the German army through a 100-billion-euro ($107 billion) fund.
Germany beat England on penalties in the 1990 World Cup and Euro 1996.
