Heavy rains recorded in the early hours of Monday in Valencia highlighted the water leakage problems that the Palace of Music continues to suffer from, despite a recent renovation that has kept the building closed for four years.
As confirmed by Palauan sources, the leaks affected the lobby of the building attached to the main building, the employee passage area and access to the locker rooms, although the water was quickly removed without causing major damage.
To avoid this type of flooding, the Palau de la Música will invest €239,570.56 in a project that is scheduled to start in December of this year and last about three months, as Vicente Lemera, the organization’s director, stated a few weeks ago.
This is a procedure on the slab in this area, which must be extracted and a new one built at a height of 30 cm, which will allow the presence of a tank that collects water and does not stagnate, and in turn is directly connected to the main collector.
This first intervention will be supplemented by various measures that will be implemented this year, the city council said in a statement. These works will cost around 472,000 euros.
The Council also explains that the establishment of a pre-management contract is being studied to be able to prepare the drafting and construction management that should solve all the problems discovered from the technical memory of the building; after the works carried out in recent years, including the isolation of the garden above the administrative and rehearsal area, as well as the air conditioning of the Tarongers Hall and the annex building in 2002.
