Chicago-area residents can expect rain and wind as the weekend ends Sunday, with occasional heavy rain throughout the morning.
Based on forecast models, rain enveloping the low pressure system will continue to affect the Chicago area through most of the morning and into the early afternoon. Some rain bands can cause heavy rain, especially in the northern suburbs, causing problems with the area’s roads.
North winds will also be a factor as they will be around 20 mph during the day.
High temperatures are expected to reach the mid-40s, which will be close to seasonal averages.
Eventually, the rain will stop between late afternoon and early evening, and while scattered showers are possible Sunday night, skies will slowly begin to clear, culminating in sunny conditions by Monday morning.
Some clouds may occasionally arrive Monday, but conditions will mostly be pleasant with winds returning and calmer highs to the mid-40s.
Tuesday is likely to be the warmest day of the week, with temperatures hovering in the 50s, but residents of the region would be wise to accept this heat as a cold front that will quickly descend on the region, bringing with it rainier conditions and fresher temperatures.
After that front fades on Wednesday, highs are expected to be in the lows into the mid-30s by Thursday, though readings could pick up slightly heading into the first weekend of December.
