The forum will take place from 26 to 28 August with free sessions at the Conference Centre at the Joint Headquarters.
More than 200 participants will enliven 11 exhibition tables and two exchange workshops led by experts and with the participation of representatives of international and local organizations, city networks, companies and various institutions.
The committee members include former President of the Inter-American Development Bank, Enrique Iglesias, and Marcelo Abdalla, President of the PIT-CNT Union Center.
Representatives of international organizations such as the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), UN Women and the International Labour Organization will also be present.
The purpose is to promote “multilateral cooperation to build comprehensive local economic development policies in the region,” according to the invitation.
Under the theme “Regional Alliances and Challenges in the Economic Model of Local Development in Latin America and the Caribbean”, the meeting will address topics such as local development and the Sustainable Development Goals.
As well as gender equality and innovation.
The event in Montevideo will serve as a prelude to the World Forum on Local Economic Development in Seville (Spain), scheduled for April 2025.
