Beirut, September 25 (Prensa Latina) Today, the joint Palestinian force began implementing the first step to restore security in the Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp in southern Lebanon, after days of armed confrontation.

According to the National News Agency, about 165 officers representing various Palestinian movements were deployed at conflict points to reduce tension and reassure citizens.

The first phase will be completed with the withdrawal of extremist groups from schools and the centers will be handed over to the United Nations Refugee Agency for maintenance.

The bulletin stated that the goal of the deployment plan is to restore life to normal in the countryside, reassure families, and ask relief institutions to launch an appeal to secure the necessary funds and restore what was destroyed during the clashes.

According to Fouad Othman, a member of the Joint Palestinian Action Committee in Sidon, Ain al-Hilweh will remain the address of the right of return for citizens, and all projects aimed at ending the camp will fail.

At the same time, it was revealed that the file for the extradition of those accused of killing Brigadier General Abu Ashraf Al-Aroushi and four of his companions is with the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, and the state staff, with the unanimous consent of the Lebanese and Palestinian political forces.

After a week of clashes, the ceasefire agreement in the camp entered into force on September 14, following the success of the efforts of the President of the Lebanese Legislative Council with the leaders of the Fatah and Hamas movements.

The rivalry between Fatah and extremist groups led to deaths, injuries, and the displacement of refugees, in addition to the tense security situation in the camp and in the coastal city of Sidon.

On July 29, the countryside witnessed the outbreak of confrontations between Fatah and armed organizations, which increased after the assassination of the commander of the Palestinian National Security Forces in Sidon, Abu Ashraf Al-Armushi.
