Mexico-New Zealand player Ricardo Menendez was elected to the New Zealand Parliament in March.
On Saturday, October 17, New Zealand held a general election in which the Labor Party, led by Prime Minister Jacinta Artern, won a landslide victory.

Even if Labor gains, the party to which Mexican Ricardo Mendes belongs will also get seats in parliament.
Mendes March will occupy one of the 10 seats won by the Green Party in Saturday’s election.
In his candidacy, Menendez said March was aimed at ending poverty and tackling the climate crisis.
“We have the opportunity to change politics, and it will work not only for the rich, but for all of us,” the Mexican said when announcing his candidacy last February.
Ricardo Menendez specializes in climate and economic justice. It was precisely in this path that he focused his efforts on the campaign.
“My campaign (…) is for a future with housing, health, education, decent income and a habitable planet for all. With your support we can create a political system that works for all,” he explained. .
