In 2016, 27 percent of deaths in the Magallanes region were due to cardiovascular disease. Currently, the number of monitored users in the health network is 23 thousand 700 people.
Solange Robinson, a nurse in the Cardiovascular Program, explained that “a very significant number with more than 45% of users under the age of 65, and therefore, there is also a young population that already has chronic diseases.”

Health Ministry Francesca Sanfuentes stressed that although self-care should be a constant concern, what is required this month “is Strengthening the community’s preventive message to encourage the adoption of a healthier lifestyle As well as preventive health checks to rule out possible cardiovascular diseases and thus provide timely treatment, should one of them be detected.”

During this month and with the aim of prevention, the month of the heart was celebrated with various activities. The initiative concluded on Saturday with a heart eco-tour titled “Give Life to Your Heart”.which started on Bulnes Avenue Bandejón in front of UMAG and ended at the viewpoint of Tres Puentes Wetland.
