ATLANTA — Joey Meneses got the green light as Homer beat Jesse Chavez in the seventh inning, and the Washington Nationals ended their five-game winning streak with the Atlanta Braves with a 3-2 victory on Wednesday.
Ronald Acuña Jr. drove in an early run and scored another goal for the Braves, who sealed their fifth straight post-season berth the night before.
Atlanta woke up one game behind the New York Mets, the Eastern National League leaders visiting Milwaukee. The Braves won 10 times in a row, beating their opponent 47-16.
The Braves are 52-26 at Truist Park with a three-game streak remaining against the Mets between September 30 and October 2. Atlanta is 71-29 since May 31, its best in majors since that date.
Minnes put Washington ahead 3-2 with his 10th run, a shot that traveled 420 feet to the left. The 30-year-old Mexican rookie has topped Washington with 57 hits, 10 home runs and 25 reserve hits since his debut in the league on August 2.
