The meeting, which is being attended by member states of what is also known as the Ibero-American Community of Nations, will seek concrete results that will have a positive impact on the quality of life of Ibero-Americans.
This was stated by the Ibero-American Secretary General, Andrés Allamand, in a speech he delivered at the inauguration ceremony that took place last night in the castle of Santo Domingo, located in the colonial zone.
Allamand indicated that this summit will be dedicated to the people and aims to achieve tangible results, and to achieve them, the Ibero-American Environment Charter, the Food Security Strategy, and the Charter of Principles and Digital Rights will be presented to the countries. to look in it.
For his part, Dominican President Luis Abinader, speaking before the audience, stressed the unity that exists between the countries of the Ibero-American community, not only because of languages, history or geography, “There are ties that unite us more than that separate us.”
He expressed how “Providence placed the Dominicans in the center of the continent, the link between Europe and the New World. Today, at a crucial moment for humanity, when we are faced with a change of times, paradigms we have taken for granted, and for this reason it is necessary to search for a possible utopia.”
The President also noted that the region faces common challenges that require collective responses.
Finally, he said: “We have a long way to go, and on this road, we need, as leaders in whom our people have placed their trust, to develop the ability to transcend political differences and dialogue in an honest and friendly manner.”
The culmination of the inauguration ceremony was an art show of great color and quality, which was highly praised by the participants.
After the summit’s initial activity, the leaders participated in a dinner hosted by the Head of State for their counterparts present, heads of delegations, and guests.
Today, Saturday, starting at 09:00 local time, the event will be held in the Convention Center of the Dominican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where the Heads of State and Government will intervene, after which the summit documents, including the Santo Domingo Declaration, will be approved.
