The best prospects for attracting MLB 2023

Even after many of the prospects who saw action last year have “graduated” to major companies, the pool of forecasts for 2023 is full of talent.

The top two on the 2022 roster, Adley Rutschman and Gabriel Moreno, are no longer considered predictions. Others who were a bit lower in the standings last year—Joey Bart, Luis Camposano, MJ Melendez, and Shea Langlers—also lost the probability tag. But the list that we offer has many interesting names.

Sure, it all starts with the game’s best prospect, Venezuelan Mets Francisco Alvarez, but the roster features a good mix of first-round international draft picks (four), “late” picks, and hot and cold names. Unknown at the time of signing on the international market.

Hit: parry (60)
Parada was the first receiver selected in the 2022 amateur draft (No. 11 overall by the Mets). Parada shows a simple take on the dish, with a penchant for being potted. 361 with a .453 OBP as a freshman in college.

Strength: Alvarez (70)
There may not be a stronger prospect now than Alvarez. She has natural strength and is used in games. He hit 24 home runs as a teenager in 2021 in Division I, then hit 27 more with 20 runs at various levels last season. With his hitting swing and bat speed, the Venezuelan has the ability to hit many home runs in the majors.

Speed: Ford (60)
Ford, who was the Mariners’ first pick in the 2021 amateur draft, is “doing well to catch him.” He has above average bases speed—he stole 23 bases in his first full season—and is athletic enough to defend second base or even center field, if necessary.

Arm: Davis (70)
Although he continued to improve some aspects of his defense, Ford never left doubt with his arm; Perhaps the strongest of all position predictions. In addition, he moves his feet very well and his transmission is very fast. He also has a great goal.

Defense: Plant (60)
Romo also offers a strong arm that he combines with strong defensive traits. He is athletic and agile behind the plate. Also, he has good hands and great blocking skills. Rock shooters enjoy promoting it.

Venezuela’s Kartaya also has the arguments here, but if Alvarez can play a midfield defense, his offensive projection could take him up a notch.

Highest floor: O’Hoppe
While none of his tools stand out above the rest, O’Hoppe has everything it takes, including a great work ethic, to be seen as a big league player for the long haul.

Rookie of the Year: Alvarez
Assuming he gets a lot of whack in New York, it’s easy to assume that the Venezuelan could draw a lot of attention from winning voters.

Rapid Ascent: I want
The switch-hitting Cuban wasn’t even in the Angels’ top 30 prospect at the end of the 2021 season, but he’s since hit it big after a strong 2022 season in which he posted a 0.965 OPS.

Humble beginnings: Rodriguez
The Dominican signed for just $10,000 with the Mets in July 2018 and is now knocking on the Majors’ door, after a stellar 2022 in which he reached the Triple-A level, in his second season with the Pirates. in the three-team trade that sent Joe Musgrove to the Padres.

More to prove it: Davis
There is always pressure to be the No. 1 pick in the amateur competition, but Davis showed his offensive potential in his first full season in 2022. However, he was only able to play 59 games due to wrist problems. A complete health campaign should answer many questions.

The Dominican briefly made it to the majors in 2022, but is coming off a strong offensive season in the minors (. 306/. 356/. 542 with 25 home runs and 96 RBI between Double-A and Triple-A). This is nothing new, though, considering he’s done nothing but hit his entire career, hitting . 321/.358/.510 career.
