According to the International Maritime University of Panama (UMIP) report, this is the goal of the latest cooperation protocol signed in this capital city between both entities.
The agreement was signed during the sessions of the first Latin American Merchant Maritime Industry Summit (Lammis, followed in English), whose purpose was to integrate the entire value chain in the country that has to do with cargo handling and disposal.
On behalf of the representation of the Autonomous Municipality, Ricardo Barcala specified that it is a matter of considering projects related to development, research and innovation, the field of training and new technologies and, above all, understanding the rapid progress of changes in the marine world.
In this way, he added, scholarship students will be able to go to the port of Bilbao or visit people from the port to visit the canal country.
Barkala also commented that Bilbao is one of the four high-level ports in Spain, in addition to Algeciras, Valencia and Barcelona.
For his part, UMIP Rector Victor Luna explained that the intention of the agreement is to promote exchange with a counterpart that is at the forefront with environmental protection, global warming and decarbonisation.
