A California public defender has been found dead under mysterious circumstances while visiting Mexico with his wife to celebrate their first wedding anniversary.reported reports.
The death of Officer Elliott Blair, 33, was confirmed by the Orange County Public Defender’s Office to Fox 11 Los Angeles.
“This is an unspeakable tragedy,” the office said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with Elliott’s family and all those who knew and loved him at the Orange County Public Defender’s Office.”
Blair was in Rosarito, about 30 minutes south of Tijuana, celebrating their wedding anniversary when he was “tragically murdered” on Jan. 14, according to the family’s GoFundMe page, which is seeking answers.
“I wish we could provide everyone with more information, but the authorities in Mexico have disclosed very limited information,” said fundraiser organizers Annie Rodriguez. He was the victim of a brutal crime. His family is working with US officials to obtain more information.”
Blair has worked at the Public Defender’s Office since 2017 after passing an entrance exam, like his wife, who entered the same year.

Blair’s relatives said they did not receive much information from Mexican authorities until Saturday afternoon, Orange County Attorney Martin Schwartz told the Orange County Register.
