Ford F-150 Lightning – the electric version of the emblematic American pickup, bestselling in the United States – arrives in Europe. Ford has chosen Norway as the country to launch the global marketing of this award-winning pickup truck. Thus, customers in Norway, the world’s most dynamic market for electric vehicle integration, will be the first to be able to choose outside the United States and Canada to purchase F 150 Lightning Lariat Launch Special Edition. After intense user demand, a very limited number of units will be offered.
The unprecedented combination offered by the F-150 Lightning – off-road performance, utility and zero exhaust emissions – is well suited for work and life outdoors in a country where nearly two-thirds of new vehicles are equipped with four-wheel drive to handle challenging driving conditions.
Hopes Transportation of ski, fishing or rowing equipmentor to support the Norwegian companies’ business, the F-150 Lightning is expected to offer a zero-emissions range of 386 km (estimated by the EPA), a tow capacity of 3,493 kg and a payload of 805 kg.
The F-150 Lightning is powered by a twin-turbocharged electric motor that generates 458 horsepower and 1,050 Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from 0-100 km/h in less than 5 seconds. Inspiring confidence on a variety of terrains, it features Normal, Sport, Off-Road and Country/Long drive modes. A modern (usable) 98 kWh lithium-ion battery can be charged from 15% to 80% in 39 minutes thanks to a 150 kW DC fast charging system, making it easy for customers to use the increasingly capacious battery. Norway’s charging network, which already has 20,000 public stations – including 6,000 fast charging points -.
The F-150 Lightning battery pack includes convenient features that turn the vehicle into a portable power source. The Pro Power Onboard system is capable of delivering up to 2.3 kW and is designed to charge tools, electronics and home appliances with built-in power outlets in work environments and when camping offline. Similarly waterproof and drainable front trunk, the Mega Power Frunk trunk – with a capacity of 400 liters and 181 kg – is particularly useful for work and outdoor activities.
Inside the five-seat cabin, Ford’s SYNC 4A infotainment system features a central 15.5-inch digital touchscreen and is wirelessly compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The 12-inch digital instrument cluster provides a customizable interface for the driver to choose the information most relevant to them.
Technology also helps users make the most of pick-up capabilities. A rear view camera is installed to facilitate trailer alignment and hitching. The onboard gauge and Smart Hitch can indicate through the center display an estimate of the weight in the load area and its distribution. To make backing up a trailer easier, Pro Trailer Backup Assist 6 allows the driver to control movements using a 15.5-inch touchscreen, and maneuver using a specific control for that.
