What is the role of 16?

This round pits the eight group stage champions of the UEFA Europa League against the eight teams who made it past the play-off round.

The qualifiers will be played over two matches and will end on Thursday, March 16th. The rule of doubling the value of goals scored away from home is canceled in the event of a tie. The eight winners advance to the quarter-final draw on Friday, 17 March, where the eight losers say goodbye to Europe.
