One of the most successful adventures of LucasArts, series ‘monkey island‘, a new chapter published by Devolver Digital in 2022. Without revealing too many plot details, the short trailer hints that the game will take on a stylized 2D look that respects the effects of the original games.
In addition to Ron Gilbert as director and writer, the “Back to Monkey Island” development team includes Dave Grossman A programmer who has worked on several games in the series and titles such as “Day of the Tentacle” and “Sam & Max” published by Telltale Games. The game will be a sequel to the original chapters
According to the brief announcement from Devolver Digital, the next chapter of the franchise should be a direct sequel to Monkey Island Secret and “Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge,” the only Ron Gilbert signature games. In total, the series received a total of 5 games in its history, including the most recent, “Tales of Monkey Island”, published by Telltale Games in 2009.

The second game to be published by the developer
Terrible Toybox, the developer behind “Return to Monkey Island”, is a studio founded in 2013 by Ron Gilbert. The only project the studio has released so far is 2017’s Thimbleweed Park, a work that sought to recreate the style of storytelling and gameplay that the director helped establish when he was one of the leaders of LucasArts.
