Until this week, getting an 800-horsepower version of the Mustang S650 platform required a GTD customization. However, that is no longer the case, as Ford Performance is launching a new supercharger kit for Mustangs equipped with the 5.0-liter V8.
The Mustang FP800S concept shows what this package can do, giving the “modest” Mustang GT more than 800 horsepower to work with. This is due to the aforementioned volumetric compressor, improved fuel line, larger injectors, 92mm throttle body and 120mm air intakes. A larger heat exchanger, intercooler pump, and dual air-water intercooler combat heat absorption.
This prototype backs that engine with a six-speed manual gearbox, but the supercharger kit will also work with automatic models. The Dark Horse version will also benefit from its own supercharger, although Ford has yet to announce the specifications for that car. Plus, its 3-year, 36,000-mile warranty might be the best part, as long as an ASE-certified technician performs the installation.
