The Head of State welcomed the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the African State to the Miraflores Palace, the seat of the government, where, accompanied by their delegations, they discussed various points of interest in bilateral relations.
Official sources stated that the meeting worked to deepen the strategic relations and enhance the cooperation agenda maintained by the two countries, in addition to discussing issues related to diplomacy, pluralism and common development.
Yesterday, Venezuela and Namibia held the first meeting of the consultation mechanism between the two countries, which aims to enhance cooperation in various fields.
The meeting was chaired by the Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Carlos Faria, and Nandi Ndayitwa, where they discussed how to deepen cooperation through exchanging experiences and knowledge, foreign policy, international and regional relations, and global issues of common concern.
Caracas and Windhoek established diplomatic relations on May 22, 1990, and in November 2006, the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a consultation mechanism between the two foreign ministries.
With the coming to power of the leader Hugo Chavez (1954-2013), relations were relaunched as part of the Venezuelan leader’s strategy of rapprochement with the African continent and a new vision for the foreign policy of the Bolivarian Revolution.
The Foreign Ministry noted that the latter has been deepened in recent years by President Nicolás Maduro with two official visits to Africa.
Ndayituah had deposited offerings of flowers the day before in the sarcophagus that preserves the remains of El Libertador Simón Bolívar in the National Pantheon.
She was also received by Executive Vice President Delcy Rodriguez, with whom she discussed deepening strategic relations and promoting cooperation agenda in sectors such as energy, mining, science and culture.
