The spokesman of the military entity, Major General Igor Konashenkov, in his usual interview with the press, explained that kindergartens, schools and various social institutions are located in the central region of the Ukrainian city, the target of the launch.
In this regard, the military commander reported that the operation began around 11:00 p.m. Moscow time on April 27, using Tochka-U missiles and high-powered multiple rocket launchers.
Konashenkov emphasized that “12 high-powered multiple rocket launchers, as well as two Ukrainian Tochka-U ballistic missiles, were dropped in the air over the city, and fragments of one of the downed missiles fell into Shevchenko Park.”
He added that the air defense systems repelled this morning another Ukrainian attack with the same type of missile on residential areas in the city of Izyum in the Kharkov region, whose target was the city hospital.
In this regard, he pointed to the presence of a Russian medical detachment in the health facility to provide assistance to the residents of the area.
“The indiscriminate missile attacks of the national regime in Kyiv on the residential areas of Izyum and Kherson are a war crime and a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law,” the defense ministry spokesman stressed.
For his part, the deputy head of the military-civilian administration of the Kherson region Kirill Strimosov told the channel “Kherson and Zaporozhye 24” that missile fragments damaged houses, a communications center, a clinic, a town hall, the Naval College, the Naval Academy, as well as the Council of Trade Unions.
