Muhammad, Hussein, Bassem, Musa, Ahmed, Amir, Ibrahim, Nidal, are some of the names – among the many – to be added to the sad list of children killed as a result of the ongoing Israeli army attacks on Palestinians.
They are children who grow up in a cycle of violence, suffering from trauma and starvation. Israel has killed 2,103 children – 1,673 in Gaza and 430 in the West Bank – since September 2000, according to data from the Israeli human rights organization, B’Tselem. Anadolu Agency denounced their arbitrary detention as one of the biggest problems Palestinian children face: at least 140 are still in Israeli prisons.
The media devotes little space to this issue and never explains that since 1955, Palestinians have been living in refugee camps, and children are forced to suffer due to forced displacement.
As if this genocide weren’t enough, the Gaza Strip, one of the most densely populated areas on the planet – more than two million people live in just 360 square kilometers – is confined by air, land and sea, resulting in material suffering. imperfection.
Palestinian children can wake up to find that their parents are gone, or that the day began with the sound of machine guns, or open their eyes to be human shields. Anadolu Agency reported that more than 700,000 minors in Gaza had their schools, families and homes destroyed.
As children and families suffer from these abuses, the world watches with horror what is happening in Palestine. Where is the Human Rights Council? What is the multilateral organization that demands respect for the life and rights of minors?
Until the view of these rights maintains a political bias, there will be a double standard for measuring what is or is not a violation of them. If this continues, the lives of innocent people like the lives of Palestinian children will continue to perish.
