The Israeli attack led to the death of at least four people in Jabalia, according to doctors at the scene
An Israeli airstrike in the Nazla neighborhood of Jabalia, in the northern Gaza Strip, killed at least four people, doctors at the scene told a CNN reporter on Sunday.
Four other people were injured and many are still missing after the attack hit a residential building, according to doctors.
CNN has contacted the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) for comment.
The injured were transferred to Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital and Sheikh Radwan Clinic, according to Hussein Muhaisen, director of ambulance services in Gaza. He added that the clinic is equipped to receive minor injuries instead of Kamal Adwan Hospital, which is still under Israeli military siege.
The field correspondent said that Jabalia witnessed an intense night of air strikes and artillery shelling, and during the day numerous fires broke out across the region.
A video obtained by CNN shows people digging through the rubble, removing remains near a collapsed building. People were seen pulling what appeared to be a child from under the rubble; It is unclear whether the child is alive.
“We are working with very limited resources,” Muhaisen said. “We call on the international community and humanitarian agencies to save the health sector in Gaza.”
Ibrahim Abdel Khaleq Khalla, the brother of the owner of the house that was bombed, said that there are still women and children under the rubble, and the Gaza Civil Defense is working to rescue them.
“My brother’s house was attacked. There were at least 20 people in that building. Many were rescued from under the rubble,” he said.
“This is not the first time our family has been attacked. My brother Mahmoud’s house was bombed, killing 20 people and wounding ten others. My cousins’ house, which was in the back, was also bombed, which is two houses on the same street.” Their bodies are still under the rubble to this day, and we have not been able to get them out.
In a press conference on Sunday, IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari said: “In northern Gaza, IDF forces continue to fight in Jabalia. Today, the forces raided the terrorist infrastructure where many weapons were destroyed as well as many documents that were transferred to an intelligence investigation.” “.
The Israeli army said on Monday that its operations in Jabalia were continuing “against terrorist targets.” On Thursday night and into Friday, the Israeli army announced that it had launched an “operation” that witnessed “intense fighting” in Jabalia, and claimed to have “eliminated dozens of terrorists.”
