This is according to a New report From Expedia, which warns that Americans are suffering from “vacation deprivation.” Earlier this year, the travel planning platform surveyed 14,527 people in more than 10 countries, including France, Mexico and Canada. People cited inflation, understaffing, and busy schedules as the biggest barriers to taking more vacations.

However, paid time off is a sought-after benefit among American workers, with 62% saying it is “extremely important” for them to have a job that provides time off and personal days, according to the report. Pew Research Center, that polled 5,188 Americans in February.

To prevent burnout and improve employee retention, some companies are taking this benefit a step further, offering to help offset the cost of employee vacations.
