Guatemala became the ninth country to join the organization Ibero-American Cooperation Program on the Situation of Older Persons (PISPAM), from the Ibero-American Social Security Organization (PISPAM).OISS), its purpose is to protect this sector of the population and access to justice in a timely manner.
He joined through the mediation of the Social Work Secretary of the President’s wife (Sosip), which requested to join the effort through its participation in the PISCPAM Strategic Plan 2023-2030.
OISS recognized the progress the country has made in protecting and supporting the elderly through the development of decrees and agreements and the work of government institutions, including SOSEP, the institution that chairs the National Commission for the Protection of the Elderly.Conaprov).
The aforementioned committee was established pursuant to Decree No. 80 of 1996. Elderly Protection LawIn its Article 3, it works to promote, lead, coordinate, develop and direct strategies related to the well-being and safety of the elderly, so that they can enjoy a dignified life.
