Honduras. La Ceiba was an information hub with the Sustainable Tourism and Climate Change Forum taking place. Activities begin with the “Global Sustainable Tourism Standards” workshop developed by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), with speakers Jorge Muller Rivas, Latin America Program Director and GSTC Trainer, along with Natalia Naranjo, GSTC Trainer.

This workshop, aimed at entrepreneurs, hoteliers, tour operators, restaurants and other tourism service providers, was held on September 20-21, allowing participants to learn more about the GSTC programme, and delve deeper into the principles, difficulties and trends of sustainable tourism. Above all, expand their knowledge regarding effective management of natural resources.

During the first day, the speakers were responsible for making the day very dynamic and full of learning, including group activities that led to the exchange of ideas that contribute to sustainable tourism in different parts of the country.

This training space was made possible thanks to the management of the Honduran Tourism Institute (IHT), in collaboration with the Tourism Chamber of La Ceiba and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through the Climate Adaptation Project.

It should be noted that Chilean architect Jorge Muller, an expert in sustainable tourism standards, was one of the international guests and shared more about his experience in the tourism sector during the Sustainable Tourism and Climate Change Forum “Opportunities for the Tourism Sector in the World.” Confronting climate change.
