Soprano Lola Barrios and pianist Leandro Marchesano, both from Argentina, will perform alongside Cuban singers Anais Abreu, Annabel Lopez, Benny Luis, Samantha Correa and Merlin Cruz. They will be accompanied by pianists Rosa Garcia Oropesa and Lisa Maria Blanco, clarinetist Jose Ernesto Rodriguez, violinists Lizzie Udo and Camila Crespo, cellist Amaya Justiz and violinist Chari Mare Bosch, all from the Caribbean.

The repertoire includes songs from the opera “María de Buenos Aires”, which premiered at the Gran Teatro de La Habana Alicia Alonso in 2015, this time with a part of this cast consisting of actor Jorge Luis de Capo, tenor Jorge Felix Leyva, soprano Pilar Posada and mezzo-soprano Mali Mendes.

Among the audio works that will complete the program, Oblivion, Libertango, Ave María Tanti anni prima, Balada para un loco, Chiquilín de bachín, Siempre se return a Buenos Aires, Los Pájaros Perdida and many others stand out.

The concert is sponsored by the Argentine Embassy in this country, the Astor Piazzolla Foundation headed by the composer’s widow Laura Escalada, the CMBF National Music Radio, the Cuban Ministry of Culture, and the Office of the Historian of Havana.

Astor Piazzola (1921-1992) was an Argentine bandoneon player and composer, considered by critics to be one of the most important musicians of the 20th century and one of the world’s most important tango composers.
