Thirty Dominican bus passengers are kidnapped in Haiti

Must Read

According to the report of various media, the assault took place in Morne a Crabret and as a result the flight attendant was seriously injured and urgently taken to hospital.

Witnesses attributed the kidnapping to members of the Maozo 400 gang operating in the area and those responsible for the media kidnapping of 17 missionaries from the United States and Canada in October 2021.

It is not yet known if the kidnappers have contacted their relatives, and the former Haitian consul in the Dominican Republic, Edwin Paraison, confirmed that the Dominican driver, a security man and three passengers managed to escape and were assisted by the Haitian National Police.

The spiral of violence and insecurity continues to escalate in Haiti, despite recent operations by the authorities to contain gangs operating with impunity.

At the beginning of January, former MP Smith Mathurin was kidnapped in Merge, southwest of the Haitian capital, while last week gunmen opened fire in Carrefour Foy, killing four people, including two police officers.

Monday’s shooting in Vermathi, a town in Port-au-Prince, left at least two people dead and several others injured when individuals on motorbikes fired at a bus stop.
