NetherRealm Studios published the first trailer for Omni-Man in Mortal Kombat 1 on the occasion of Comic-Con.
The North American studio’s first additional character for the fighting game will be available in November and will be part of the Kombat Pack. Users who purchased the Premium Edition of Mortal Kombat 1 received this content pack for free.
The character Omni-Man comes from the comic strip Invincible, created by Robert Kirkman and Corey Walker. It was also recently successfully adapted into an animated series, which can be watched on Amazon’s Prime video streaming service. In Mortal Kombat 1, actor JK Simmons (Whiplash, Spider-Man) will once again be responsible for voicing him.
NetherRealm plans to later add Quan Chi, Peacemaker, Ermac, Homeland, and Takashi Takeda as characters, and Tremor, Mavado, Johnny Cage, Fera, and Khameleon as Kameo characters. Series head Ed Boon has also hinted at the possibility of adding Ghostface, the killer from Scream, as a playable character.
Mortal Kombat 1 was released on September 14, and is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series We said of it in our analysis that it is a title that is “overly persistent for a reboot, but its virtues again lie in its strength, artistic solvency and desire to have a good time.”
