The Red Devils sharpened their horns before facing Austria
The two unbeaten men from Group F meet Belgium on tour under new coach Domenico Tedesco. The Italian coach, who started his career with a 3-0 win in Sweden (with a hat-trick from Romelu Lukaku), then triumphed 3-2 in a friendly match in Germany, the country of his origins. A big reception is expected in Brussels for their first home game. “In Sweden and Germany I really felt the support of our fans. They told me the atmosphere in Brussels is better,” he declared.
Austria, led by Ralf Rangnick, prevailed over Azerbaijan and Estonia to start, but may need another rally to put burgeoning Belgium in trouble. “It’s a very important game for us, a tough opponent,” said midfielder Xaver Schlager. “We’re looking forward to this moment. You’re training for games like that, and you want to be ready for them.”
did you know Austria won their first nine matches against Belgium, but have not beaten the Red Devils in their last five matches (D3 L2), dating back to 1959 in a friendly match (4-2).

- Cristiano Ronaldo has reached this international window with 198 appearances for Portugal (and 122 goals). If he plays against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday, he will be fit for his 200th match for Portugal against Iceland in Round 4.
- After completing a treble with Manchester City by winning the UEFA Champions League Final, Erling Haaland will return to the Norwegian side with the intention of ending a rare five-match drought. Away Scotland top Group A, while Norway have picked up just one point after two matches.
