The Uruguay national team arrived in Buenos Aires on Wednesday evening to face Argentina next Thursday in La Bombonera, as part of the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
The team, led by Marcelo Bielsa, made the trip after conducting its last training session at the Celeste Stadium, and the trip was delayed due to the severe storm that passed through the area in the afternoon. Once in Argentina, the Charoa delegation traveled to the Sheraton Hotel, where they were greeted by a large number of fans who came to offer their support to the national team.
Marcelo Bielsa, Luis Suarez and Federico Valverde were the most popular with fans, including Uruguayans, Argentines and even Chileans, who took photos and autographs of their idols.
Uruguay will face Argentina next Thursday in La Bombonera, in the new edition of the “Rio de la Plata Classic”. The match will pit the World Champions, who had a perfect score at the start of the qualifiers, against Celeste, who arrives as one of their companions.
