In this regard, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro highlighted a recent telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, in which the two sides emphasized the continued progress in exchange links, despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the framework of the high-level intergovernmental meeting, the head of state also stressed that Venezuela and Russia have endorsed a path of strong military cooperation to defend peace, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Maduro, from the Miraflores Palace, stressed that the high command of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces has specific instructions to increase all preparation, training and cooperation plans with the Eurasian nation, “with which we have deep historical ties”.
During his meeting with the deputy head of the Russian government, the Venezuelan president also emphasized talks on energy cooperation and every aspect of the trade and financial relationship, in health, science, innovation and culture, among others.
Likewise, Maduro endorsed all of Venezuela’s support for Russia in the face of threats related to the expansion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in Eastern Europe and the media campaigns of the United States and the West against Moscow.
