Local newspapers quoted the Russian ambassador in Hanoi, Gennady Bezdetko, as saying that the residence of the eminent person in his country, from November 29 to December 2, constitutes one of the most important related events on the bilateral agenda this year.
The newspaper Nhan Dan, the official organ of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and the VNA, the national news agency, provided extensive summaries of Xuan Phuc’s visit and highlighted the results of his talks with President Vladimir Putin and other senior Russian leaders.
In a joint statement, the two parties affirmed their intention to strengthen the strategic partnership with a vision until 2030.
One of the most relevant points was the common interest in doubling bilateral trade that year by 15 and tripling one country’s investment in the other.
Vietnam and Russia also agreed to continue their high-level political dialogues and strengthen cooperation in the fields of defense, security and military technology, on the basis of international law and in the interest of peace in the region and the world.
They also talked about building a more equitable and democratic system of international relations in line with international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
They also reaffirmed their support for multilateralism and the role of the United Nations as a guarantor of peace, security and sustainable development, and rejected the use or threat of force in resolving inter-state disputes.
