Chinese President Xi Jinping urged his Vietnamese counterpart Tu Lam to uphold the traditional friendship between the two countries and promote the development of socialism in the world.

During the official talks at the Great Hall of the People in the capital, Xi also called for deepening the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that has strategic significance.

The Chinese leader praised the current state of bilateral relations by noting that China was the first foreign country Tu Lam visited after being appointed general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

China recorded 17.25 million foreign entries into the country in the first seven months of the year, up 129.9 percent from a year earlier, official sources said this week.

According to Liu Haitao, deputy director of the National Immigration Administration, the Asian country issued 846,000 visas at ports, representing a 182.9 percent year-on-year increase.

The director believes that this behavior is due to China expanding the list of visa-exempt countries and introducing various policies to facilitate the entry of foreigners.

This week, the Foreign Ministry, the China Automobile Industry Association and other business leaders expressed strong opposition to the European Commission’s imposition of high tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles.

The move, which affects three of the Asian country’s major electric vehicle manufacturers, was seen as a serious distortion of the facts.

According to information disclosed by the commission, Chinese companies BYD, Geely and SAIC will face anti-dumping duties of 17.0 percent, 19.3 percent and 36.3 percent respectively.

On the other hand, Tesla, a foreign company operating in China, will impose a 9% tariff.

The average tax for cooperating companies will be 21.3 percent, while companies that do not cooperate with the investigation will be taxed at 36.3 percent.

Beijing has warned that imposing these high anti-dumping duties would create significant risks and uncertainty for Chinese companies operating in Europe or with investment plans on the continent.

Xi Jinping spoke here this week with foreign parliamentary leaders and called for promoting a multipolar world with greater representation from the Global South.

The visitors arrived in the Asian giant to participate in celebrations marking the 40th anniversary of the National People’s Congress of China’s accession to the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the 6th Symposium of Parliamentarians from Developing Countries.
