The game in question is Horizon Forbidden West, which beat out other heavyweights like Gran Turismo 7 and The Last of US Remake. The recognition was awarded by Digital Foundry.

Horizon Forbidden West It has been nominated for many Game Awards last year, but it fell out of all categories losing mostly to its competitor in PlayStation, God of War Ragnarok. Which is not a big surprise.
But, Horizon Forbidden West It just won an annual award that I think should be a category at The Game Awards: Best Graphics for 2022, awarded here by the only person surely qualified to judge it. We are talking about Digital Foundry.
Horizon Forbidden West was up there with the other two PlayStation games, Gran Turismo 7 and The Last of Us Remake, In addition to Callisto protocol and RTX gateway. No Xbox games, because they haven’t released anything exclusive this year, and no Nintendo games, since they don’t have the strength to compete in any category. “best graphics”, outside of stylized animation. I doubt it God of War Ragnarok The list was not made because of the sacrifices that had to be made to make it through genes. Horizon was also multi-generational, but did a better job overall, it seems.
While I think Horizon fell short in some aspects as a game, its visual side was definitely not one of them. Horizon Forbidden West, in addition to the gorgeous, colorful landscapes that made the first game one of the best releases ever, has enhanced its NPC rendering ability in a way I’ve never seen in a game before.
They were the best NPCs I’ve ever seen in a video game, the best performers, bar none, and that was true of not just the main character roster, but even the one-off NPCs you could only interact with once or twice. . In short, I would say it is a well deserved award.
Then, Should it be the “Best Graphics” category at The Game Awards? I’d say yes, although some say they might prefer big budget AAA games.
Game awards have a category Best Art Directionwhich happened this year Elden ringbut it’s a different category than Best Graphic, and it’s more of an art award, and I would say it’s different enough that we should get both.
I mean, if we’re going to have five esports awards spread out in 45 seconds and things like “Games for Change,” I think the award for best graphics has to be out there somewhere. But for now, Horizon Forbidden West must certainly be happy with this victory for Digital Foundry.
